Ikigai is a Japanese word that translates into “reason for being”. Ryland wanted to learn more about this concept and spent 21 days solo traveling Japan with a Leica Q2 camera that was loaned to him by a friend. Ryland moved slowly each day, not worried so much with plans rather moving deliberately. He found himself on the island of Okinawa where it is said Ikigai originated. Here are select images from his trip.
